Linda, who is the owner and sole staff member for this business is competent in her knowledge of non-profits, governance roles of the board of directors, and is phenomenal at ensuring that the board is part of the development of the strategic plan along with the funding development plan. She was instrumental in getting our own signature fundraiser off the ground and was available via email and phone for questions. She was very knowledgeable regarding what was required from not only the IRS, but the Secretary of State as well! She has a plethora of policies that any non-profit organization could use for initial templates to then make their own to implement in their own organization. She holds free trainings on a regular basis, and her newsletter is full of important information for any non-profit: grant writing, bylaws, roles of the board and their staff, etc… what is always conveyed in everything she does is she wants the non-profit to succeed as much as we do. I was struggling with how to tackle the 1023 application for tax exempt and then I found Linda Akey with CANDO! – thank goodness!! Linda was instrumental in helping Elephant Population Management Program achieve 501c3 status. It was with her efficient, effective and professional help that in a period of approximately 4 months we completed the application. She did such a great job that we were awarded our tax exempt status in very short order after submission – which I understand is quite unusual. We couldn’t have done it without her help.
